LinkedIn has always been one of my favorite platforms to work with. I love how it is a direct connection between professionals who are seeking out opportunities and information. On the professional side, I appreciate their robust analytics on followers, updates and visitors.
At my first day at the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence, I created their first LinkedIn page, and I spent my time there as a communications intern creating content for that page. In my role at the University of Connecticut School of Engineering, I also regularly created content for LinkedIn.
Within my first couple of months as the digital content developer for George Mason University’s Volgenau School of Engineering, I created and started to grow our LinkedIn page.
Currently, we are at over 1,400 followers and constantly growing.
Here are some fundamentals to success for LinkedIn:
- A consistent content schedule
- Images and/or video
- For our page, animated graphics do not perform as well as other platforms
- Respond to and/or share posts where we are mentioned
- Tag people in our posts
- Engage faculty and staff in the page
- Analyze follower graphics to appropriately target posts
